Han Haoying has published more than 100 academic journals and international conference papers, published 7 books, and presided over more than 10 major planning and research projects, including 3 National Natural Science Foundations. His main research areas cover urban planning decision-making and complex theories, as well as empirical studies on urban growth boundaries. The main research results are published on the internationally-renowned academic journals such as Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design, Land Use Policy, Landscape and Urban Planning, Sustainability, Cities and Habitat International, as well as Urban Planning, Urban Planning Forum, and Journal of Geographical Sciences, China Land Science and other well-known domestic academic journals. He has published the monographs including Urban Complexity and Planning: Theories and Computer Simulations (prologized by international authoritative experts such as Academician Michael Batty and Professor Lewis Hopkins and published by Ashgate International Press), Theory and Application of Urban Growth Boundaries, Behavioral Planning Theory: New Logic of Urban Planning, Complex: A New Perspective on Urban Planning, as well as translations including Why is the society so complex: Addressing the challenges of the 21st century with new science and Integrate into the future: Predictions, Situations, Plans and Cases.
